The vision of Basics of Humanity is multi-layered. It includes:
helping to preserve oral history from the region
being the premier platform for english speakers learning about the caucasus
encouraging + equipping independent historians + researchers whose work is focused on the region
helping to build a cultural bridge between people from the west with those from the caucasus
how funds are used
Financial support goes directly into building the long-term capacity of this project, including:
• Research time + archival access
• Translation services + cultural consultation
• Production tools + software
• Website infrastructure + digital publishing costs
• Travel + fieldwork preparation
• Documentary equipment
• Legal + safety preparation for on-the-ground reporting
