In 1991, twelve men were tortured, burned, and buried alive. And no one has officially paid the price. This is a story from in South Ossetia- a disputed region in the country of Georgia.

This story is pretty crazy.

And when I say crazy, I mean bad.

Hauntingly bad.

Not only was almost an entire family taken out, but government officials and criminals worked together to do it.

And although there were so many people who knew- and still know- the truth, the only ones to pay the price have either been chased away or silenced for good.

In the 1990s, Georgia went to war… with itself.

Newly independent from the Soviet Union, celebrations were in order.

But less than a year later, Georgian blood would spill in the streets at the hand of their fellow citizens.

And it boiled down to pride and perspective- and perhaps Russian meddling.

But how did this country go from being full of hope to hell on earth?

Imagine one, quiet night you’re alone and suddenly feel someone enter the room.

All of your senses kick into high gear as you slowly turn your head.

In the dark you make out another set of eyes staring right back at you.

And though they seem human, you can tell that something just isn’t right.

It’s likely you’ve heard the phrase “Dancing in the rain.”

But what about “Singing while on fire”?

But literally singing.

While literally on fire.
